I received this one as a gift from the parents of a kid that I was tutoring at the time, whilst I was at university. This book:
- Explores why some companies transition from being merely good to truly great and how they sustain this success over time
- Identifies key principles and practices that enable organizations to achieve and maintain greatness
I liked the concept of the Stockdale Paradox, where you (i) confront the brutal realities of your situation, and then (ii) maintain unwavering faith that you’ll ultimately prevail. This is kind of like the pre-assessment version of ‘no matter how losing your chessboard is, you should still make the best possible move’.
