- Education: Lynch graduated from Boston College in 1965 and later earned a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1968.
- Fidelity Magellan Fund: Lynch took over Fidelity's Magellan Fund in 1977. Under his management, the fund averaged a 29.2% annual return, making it the best-performing mutual fund in the world during that time frame. This track record made the Magellan Fund famous and drew a massive influx of capital.
- Investment Philosophy: Peter Lynch is known for his approach of "invest in what you know." He believed in understanding a company's story and the nature of its business before investing. He categorized his stock picks into six categories: slow growers, stalwarts, cyclicals, fast growers, asset plays, and turnarounds.
- Books: Lynch is the author of several popular books on investing:
- "One Up On Wall Street": In this best-selling book, Lynch explains the advantages that average investors have over professionals and how they can use these advantages to achieve financial success.
- "Beating the Street": This book provides insights into his investment strategies and offers advice on how to pick stocks and mutual funds.
